Why Antalya is not a popular winter destination?

Most of you already know that Antalya is one of the most popular tourist destinations for those who would like to enjoy the sunshine and warm Mediterranean Sea. But what happens here in winter? Could Antalya be considered comfortable enough to spend here the whole winter?

Summer season is very long in Antalya and goes from the middle of April and till the end of November. In December the water in the sea stays warmer than the air. The sea is 24 degrees and air temperature is about 18 degrees in the daytime and drops to 13 degrees at night. Most of the people stop swimming in the middle of November. However you can still see some people swimming all year round.
Does it ever snow in Antalya? No, but you get some heavy rain. Once a week you can experience heavy rain and sometimes there are strong winds. Due to the high humidity you might feel colder than it is. However 300 days a year the weather is just perfect and the sun is shining bright. You can still do tanning sessions on the beach in the daytime.

If you still doubt that there are a lot of winter activities in Antalya, here is the list of things I like to do:
1. Picnic by the sea. Take your bf or gather your friends for a picnic on the beach. Turkish people love spending time by the sea in any season so you won’t be there alone.
2. Explore the old town. Kaleici is my favorite place (after the Konyaalti beach of course) to walk around. Sip a cup of coffee in one of numerous cafes or better take it with you and wonder around beautiful marina and enjoy the sunset over the mountains.
3. Do some sports. There are plenty of various playgrounds for any sport. You can play badminton, basketball, tennis, pin-pong, volleyball and football.
4. Hiking. It’s a shame not to go up to the mountains. You can start by simple hikes to Doyran pond and build up your skills walking on the famous Likya trail.
5. Skiing. Yes, skiing! The closest ski resort is located on Saklikent mountain. You can get there conveniently by bus.
6. BBQ. There are several barbecue spots in the city where you can find places for grill, tables, pergolas, free public toilets and even a place where you can wash vegetables and clean the dishes! If you haven’t seen our vlog about one of these places, go to my YouTube channel.
7. Travel. There are a lot of interesting cities, villages and ancient ruins outside of Antalya. Always an idea for a day trip.
